About the Position: This position is located at the Fort Peck Project Office.

Serve as a Natural Resources Specialist (Park Ranger), responsible for fish and wildlife and natural resource management planning and recreational development activities on out leased areas. Assist in development of natural resources and fish and wildlife phases of the master plan (MP) and Operational Management Plan (OMP) for the project site. Serve in a liaison capacity between the Project and other major District Divisions to assist with formulating programs for the preservation of fish and wildlife and recreation resources. Assist in conducting studies and investigations and observe trends in wildlife populations, significance of public recreational use and trends, and an analysis of over-all project benefits, as well as water level elevations, changes in surface acreage, vegetation coverage, conditions of lake water and recreation census. Inspect mitigation plantings, areas sown to native grasses or other planting and prepares independent statements of finding and assessments. Identify encroachments onto US Army Corps lands, and follow through with resolving boundary violations. This position will serve in a developmental capacity, with promotion potential to the GS-9 level.
Shift work is required May through November. From Mid-May to Mid September the employee shift varies by pay period and includes day (0800-1630), evening (1200-2030), or night shift (1500-2330) on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. From Mid September through November the employee shift will vary by pay period and would include day shift (0800-1630) only on scheduled weekends.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the GS-05 grade level which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience collecting data and/or participating in experiments, studies or investigations in fields of science concerned with living organisms, their distribution, characteristics, life processes, or adaptation and relations to the environment.
To qualify for the GS-05 grade level, applicants must meet the 0401 series Basic Education requirement. No specialized experience is required.
